For patients who have anxiety regarding the dentist, have severe gag reflexes, or need extensive dental work done, we offer a variety of sedation options.
We offer general anesthesia, in which the patient is completely unconscious, as well as an IV conscious sedation, where a patient is relaxed but able to answer questions throughout the procedure.
What Happens at an Appointment
At a consultation before the scheduled surgery, the patient will be evaluated to ensure it is physically safe to undergo anesthesia. If using an oral sedative, it will be administered one hour before the procedure. Then nitrous oxide (laughing gas) can supplement the sedative. Vital signs will be monitored throughout the appointment.
