A permanent replacement that looks and feels like your own tooth

A dental implant is a small titanium post placed in the jawbone that acts like a natural tooth root. A crown, bridge or denture is then attached to it. The result is stable, natural-looking and can last for decades.

About dental implants

What makes implants at Lord Dufferin different is that the entire process happens under one roof. Our periodontist and oral surgeon place the implant here in our clinic, and your dentist designs and fits the final restoration, so there is no being sent across town.

Implants can replace one tooth, several teeth or secure a full denture so it never slips.

Common concerns

Is implant surgery painful?

The procedure itself is done under local anaesthetic, with sedation available if you prefer. Most patients describe the recovery as far easier than they expected, similar to a simple extraction.

How long does it take?

Typically three to six months from placement to final crown, because the bone needs time to bond with the implant. We will give you a personal timeline at your consultation.

What to expect

Your visit, step by step

  1. Step 1: Consultation & imaging

We assess your bone and gums with digital x-rays and discuss all your options.

  2. Step 2: Placement

The implant is placed in a comfortable in-office procedure. Bone grafting is added if needed.

  3. Step 3: Healing

Over a few months the bone integrates with the implant. A temporary tooth can be worn meanwhile.

  4. Step 4: Your new tooth

A custom crown, bridge or denture is attached and matched to your natural teeth.

With good care, the implant itself can last a lifetime. The crown on top may need replacing after 10 to 15 years of wear.
